“There were some people in the room who started to cry” – Gyp Casino discusses Michael Monroe’s birthday bash, future of Hanoi Rocks

The original line-up of Finnish hard rock legends Hanoi Rocks performed at frontman Michael Monroe’s 60th anniversary concert at the Helsinki Ice Hall on September 23rd, 2022.

Before Michael Monroe’s 60th anniversary birthday bash, the band’s original line-up – Monroe, guitarists Andy McCoy and Nasty Suicide, bassist Sami Yaffa, and drummer Gyp Casino – last shared a stage on July 27, 1982, when Hanoi Rocks performed at Helsinki’s Tavastia. They are considered a major influence on the ’80s glam rock scene, with Guns N’ Roses’ frontman Axl Rose among the band’s fans.

Gyp Casino visited Helsinki, Finland, last weekend as a part of the Into The Night event, and Chaoszine sat down with him to discuss the remixed version of “Oriental Beat”, Michael Monroe’s 60th anniversary birthday bash, as well as the possible future of Hanoi Rocks.
