Unholy Confessions,” a scorching single from Avenged Sevenfold‘s sophomore album “Waken the Fallen”, was released in 2003, as reported by MetalSucks. “Unholy Confessions” hit new heights earlier this week on Tuesday, November 19, when it received a platinum certification from the RIAA. For those who are unaware, the Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, certifies singles and albums depending on the number of units they sell. This system has been modified to include streaming figures for the present era. “Unholy Confessions” has now reached platinum status, indicating that it has sold one million copies.

In March 2021, “Waken the Fallen” reached platinum, and the single went gold. For comparison, platinum is worth 1,000,000 units, whereas gold is worth 500,000. Since streaming are now part of the certifications, 150 song streams equal one track unit, and 1,500 album streams equal one album unit. View the original version of the music video for “Unholy Confessions” below. It was first filmed on December 7, 2003, by director Thomas Mignone, and it just shows the band playing alone in a wet, gloomy warehouse. The original will always have a special, innocent place in their hearts, even if Avenged Sevenfold eventually reshot the video and even added fan footage of them moshing and hardcore dancing to the single in their homes.

In more recent news, the following cover of the horror punk band’s 1985 song “Some Kinda Hate” is the latest addition to Avenged Sevenfold‘s yearly Halloween tradition of Misfits covers. The multi-platinum alternative metal band has also handled “Hybrid Moments,” “Last Caress,” “Astro Zombies,” “Skulls,” and “Halloween” in different iterations throughout the years. With this most recent iteration, guitarist/vocalist Zacky Vengeance once again takes the lead vocals, seemingly continuing to lead the way on these renditions. Check out the video here!
