Slipknot briefly announced the departure of band turntablist Sid Wilson following weeks of rumours, as per theprp. The band posted the following on their social media on August 14th, however it has since been removed. TMZ first reported Sid’s dismissal on July 31st. A subsequent story from TMZ claimed that Sid’s actions against his bandmates were the reason for his dismissal. Although Wilson and his bandmates did not explicitly address the issue, Wilson’s ex-fiance Kelly Osbourne appeared to call him out in a number of posts that eventually surfaced. Wilson was one of the core nine members of the band’s classic era lineup and has been a part of the masked metal group since the late 1990s.
The Knotfest social media site, which is owned by Slipknot, suddenly displays the since-deleted post announcing Wilson’s alleged termination. The wife of Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson, Stacy Thomson, has recently addressed criticism of how she handled the initial rumours of Wilson’s removal. Shortly after Wilson’s dismissal was first reported, Thomson turned to social media to minimise rumours, saying, “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, kids!” in part. When asked about her thoughts on the subject today, August 14, after the brief statement, Stacy responded as follows.
oh stop it wasn’t true when TMZ posted it. And I assure you the guys ALL always give chances.
Percussionist Shawn Crahan, singer Anders Colsefni, and bassist Paul Grey founded the American heavy metal group Slipknot in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995. From 1999 until Gray’s passing in 2010, the band had nine members—Crahan, Grey, Joey Jordison, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root—after a number of lineup changes in its early years. Slipknot is well-known for their eye-catching appearance, combative musical style, and exuberant, wild live performances. “Mate. Kill. Feed. Repeat.”, the band’s first demo record was a failure, but once their first self-titled studio album, “Slipknot”, was released in 1999, they quickly became well-known worldwide.
