German heavy metal band The Night Eternal releases a new single and video titled “Caught In A Spell.” The track comes from the band’s upcoming album, “Cold Velvet,” which arrives August 21 on Metal Blade Records. It marks the band’s debut release for the label.
The band comments, “The song delivers the perfect heavy metal soundtrack for a night drive, driven by a hypnotic groove and a powerful sing-along chorus.” Director Robert Piel helmed the accompanying video, which follows a knight riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle through a road movie style journey. The band previously released a video for the song “Where This World Ends,” also taken from “Cold Velvet.”
The Night Eternal formed in 2018 and built a following with a guitar-driven sound rooted in ’70s and ’80s heavy metal. Their first two full-lengths, “Moonlit Cross” (2021) and “Fatale” (2023), led to support slots with Blind Guardian, Michael Schenker Group, Angel Witch, and Lucifer. The band also played festivals including Wacken, Summer Breeze, Hellfest, and Alcatraz, plus a performance at Hell’s Heroes in Houston, Texas.
The album was recorded between May and December 2025 at Church Of Sound Studios near Munich, Germany. Michael Zech handled production, recording, and mixing duties. Zech plays guitar in black metal band Secrets Of The Moon and has also worked with Sulphur Aeon, Triptykon, and The Ruins Of Beverast.
