The moon shapes another remarkable record – review of “Tungl” by Eivør

Author Benedetta Baldin - 6.10.2026

I am very particularly fond of artists that are unequivocally themselves, and they don’t care much about pleasing anyone but their satisfaction of making art. I’d like to think that Eivør can be considered one of these artists: I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times and she’s exactly how you see her on stage. Talented, outstanding and extremely knowledgeable. So, let’s dive into her new album, “Tungl”.

So far, the choice of singles has been excellent, as they give a very good preview of “Tungl”. I’m confident that there is absolutely nothing that Eivør cannot sing, and in the album, she demonstrates this once more. From light soaring vocals to deeper notes, her range is simply remarkable. The listening experience overall is also very enjoyable, with production, mixing and mastering done almost to perfection.

If I had to pick a favorite it would be the closing track, “Everyone But Me”; nobobdy can resist Eivør‘s voice, her expressivity and profoundness know no bounds. I had goosebumps for the whole track, and that’s not something that happens very often! Even though “Eon” and “Hinumegin / The Other Side” come very close to it…

The album has 10 tracks: each and everyone of them is the proof that Eivør has improved and continues to amaze with her craft, and she keeps on reaching new, higher standards for what a record should be. “Tungl” is so far her most passionate work and I personally coudln’t ask for anything better.

The atmosphere that Eivør creates with the combination of instruments and voice make this a superb album, that is so faceted and layered. As we are approaching the autumn, “Tungl” would be the perfect company during the days that are getting darker. So on October 16th, don’t miss a chance to stream or buy this phenomenal record!
