The Funeral Portrait’s new version of “Casanova (C’Est La Vie)” out today as part of “Beyond The Abyss” series

Author Benedetta Baldin - 15.11.2024

Emo rock revivalists The Funeral Portrait have landed the #1 spot on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay and Mediabase’s Active Rock radio charts with their hit single “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills).” This marks the bands first-ever #1 radio single and first entry onto any Billboard chart. The single has garnered over 4.2 million streams globally and over 436k views for its prom-themed music video.

The Funeral Portrait will celebrate their 10-year anniversary by thanking fans old and new with an updated version of their breakout fan-favorite 2014 track “Casanova (C’est La Vie).” The now-reimagined “Casanova (Beyond The Abyss)” is out digitally today, November 15, via Better Noise Music. Stream and/or download it at https://thefuneralportrait.ffm.to/casanova.

‘Casanova (From Beyond The Abyss)’ is us tipping our hat to the fans that have been with us throughout the 10 years of us being a band, while also acknowledging how far we’ve come and how much we’ve changed. We reimagined the song to sound like it was meant to be on our recent album ‘Greetings From Suffocate City’ all along, while not losing the essence of what the OG fans love about it. We are so thankful to everyone who has stayed with us all this time, this one is for them. Lee Jennings

The Funeral Portrait will commemorate their anniversary and honor their devoted fanbase (‘The Coffin Crew’) with the first-ever annual “Suffocate City Town Hall Meeting,” to be held at The Masquerade (Hell) in their hometown of Atlanta, GA this Sunday, November 17.  The all-ages show is officially SOLD OUT and will include support from Dark DivineSarah and The Safe Word, and Not Enough Space, along with special guest appearances from the ‘icons’ who appear on the cover of their brand-new album “Greetings From Suffocate City,” exclusive merch, and the opportunity to hang out and meet the band throughout the event.

The “Suffocate City Town Hall Meeting” will mark TFP’s final show of 2024. This year the band has extensively toured the country including a packed arena jaunt with Five Finger Death Punch over the summer, a fall direct support run with The HU, several headlining dates, and festival appearances at Aftershock and Louder Than Life. The Funeral Portrait will return to the road in 2025 as direct support to metalcore outfit Catch Your Breath throughout North America from February 6 to March 8. Tickets are available now via TFP’s new website HERE. See dates listed below.

The Funeral Portrait’s sophomore album “Greetings From Suffocate City “consists of 14 tracks of theatrical, dramatic, unapologetic, full-throated flair with guest appearances from Bert McCracken of The Used, Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and Eva Under Fire. To celebrate Halloween, The Funeral Portrait shared an intimate live acoustic performance of three of the album’s tracks including “Suffocate City,” “Holy Water,” and “Dark Thoughts.” Watch it   HERE.
