Theatrical, modern emo rockers The Funeral Portrait have released the deluxe edition of their latest album “Greetings From Suffocate City” today, along with a new music video for the single track “Evergreen.” The release of “Evergreen” builds on their recent radio success, hitting #1 on Billboard charts with “Welcome To Suffocate City” featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills last fall, and marking the same milestone again last week with “Holy Water” featuring Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch. “Evergreen” is one of three new songs released on the deluxe album, also featuring demos and various guest accompaniments for the songs from the original album released last year via Better Noise Music. Stream the deluxe edition of the album here.
Speaking on the latest single, vocalist Lee Jennings comments:
“It’s an attempt to put all of our anxious thoughts into one place. The song speaks to universal and painful truths—that love is the source of all suffering, and the bittersweet feelings that coincide with it. The lyrics come from an extremely personal place and are set against a melancholy, stripped-back track that helps accent one of our most emotional hymns to date.”
The accompanying montage music video follows along The Funeral Portrait‘s success story, from playing shows as the opening band for 300-400 person (or smaller) crowds in 2022 to pulling some of the largest gatherings at major festivals this year. The music video is emotionally charged, drawing you into their time as a band and allowing you to see them skyrocket into popularity firsthand. View the video below:
Although they’ve been touring nearly non-stop this year so far, things won’t be slowing down anytime soon for the band. The band plays Download Festival tomorrow as their first trip ever overseas, then after a short break, they kick right back up on tour with Ice Nine Kills again this summer. European fans will also have a chance to catch them live, as they embark on their first European tour with The Rasmus this fall. Having been noted by many as a band you’re missing out on if you don’t catch them live, they’re an act you’ll want to carve out the time in your schedule to go check out when they’re near you.
