It’s been 18 years since alternative metal favourite System of a Down released a new studio album. The band released two new songs, “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Hymanoidz” in 2020, but since then the group has returned to a period of musical silence.
In an interview with Sobre La Dosis podcast, System Of a Down‘s bassist Shavo Odadjian revealed that the band is still on a break from making new music.
“We’re still on a musical/creative hiatus, but we played a show at Sick New World in Las Vegas. And I have a solo album coming out very soon. The music on it is big and heavy. It’s not hip hop, it’s just crazy. Usually all my side projects have been hip-hop or electronic music, but I wanted to do something that felt right from the beginning. It’s in my DNA, so get ready for my solo album.“
The band released their previous albums “Mesmerize” and “Hypnotize” in 2005.
