As we reported yesterday, there has been wild speculation among Sum 41 fans that Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley could be the new lead vocalist of Linkin Park. The rumours were based on a teaser from Sum 41, “Tune in Wednesday morning Deryck Whibley announcement”, while Linkin Park currently have a mysterious countdown running that will end at about the same time as the “Deryck Whibley announcement” will be made. Now, Deryck Whibley has spoken out on those rumours:

“I feel the need to dispel some current rumors. It’s been brought to my attention that many people think I could be joining a reuniting band. But I just want to say, despite popular belief, I am not joining Oasis…. Or Linkin Park. Or any other band for that matter. […] I do look forward to seeing whatever both these amazing bands do in the future.” – Deryck Whibley

In the same statement, Deryck Whibley announces that the “Deryck Whibley announcement” has been postponed from today to “the end of the week”.
