It was only in March 2024 that the Swedish musician Martin “E‑Type” Eriksson (Dampf) opened “Mammut Bar” in Sweden’s capital Stockholm with a grand opening party. Now, it has been surprisingly announced that the rock bar, located in a 17th-century cellar in the historic Gamla Stan district, will close later this month:
“THE FINAL ROAR FROM GAMLA STAN. We hate to be the bearers of ill tidings, but the winds of change has blown through Gamla Stan. The final night of Mammut, as you know it, shall fall upon November 22nd. Do not mourn too deeply, dear friends. Shadows shift and beasts may rise anew, Mammut may yet take another form, somewhere, sometime, soon. Until then, our doors remain open and our taps still flow come, raise a draught with us beneath the old stone arches. Let laughter echo once more through these walls before silence claims them. Join us for our final celebration in Gamla Stan at November 22nd. Come toast the end, and the promise of what’s to come.”

“Mammut Bar” has attracted visitors not only with its unique location but also with regular exclusive events, including DJ sessions with well-known musicians and official record release parties, such as the one for Katatonia‘s 13th studio album, “Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State”. Speaking of which, the single release party for The Gems‘ “Hot Bait“, originally scheduled to take place on 25 November 2025 at “Mammut Bar”, has now been moved to “Noel’s Skånegatan”, with the date remaining the same:
“HOT BAIT – Out the 25 of November! Come join us as we celebrate our new single with a few acoustic songs, some lovely drinks and of course there will be merch available as well. We feels so happy that we were able to find a new location so quickly after the sad news about Mammut Bar. The event has been moved to Noels Södermalm which is a small & cosy bar at Skånegatan 59 in Stockholm. So if you want to make sure to have a spot, be there on time or even early. Lets make this a Tuesday to remember! We forgot to mention its free!! – no entrance fee just come and have fun, spend some money in the bar and who knows maybe treat yourself to a tee.”

Further details regarding the final celebration at “Mammut Bar” on 22 November 2025 are yet to be announced.
