Founded in 1994, Static-X is an American industrial metal band based in Los Angeles, California. Although the lineup changed throughout time, Wayne Static, the band’s founder, singer, vocalist, and rhythm guitarist, remained a constant until his passing in 2014.

Ken Jay, the original drummer and Static, established the band. With their 1999 first album Wisconsin Death Trip, which went platinum in the US, they became well-known. Their strong industrial metal style garnered attention within the nascent nu metal scene of the late 1990s. Over the following ten years, the group put out five additional albums: “Machine” (2001), “Shadow Zone” (2003), “Start a War” (2005), “Cannibal” (2007), and “Cult of Static” (2009).

The group sold more than three million albums globally by 2011. In 2011, the group took a break while Static worked on his solo album, “Pighammer”. Before formally disbanding in June 2013, Static briefly reunited Static-X in 2012 with just members of the touring band for his solo record. Wayne Static passed away on November 1, 2014, at the age of 48.

On October 23, 2018, the remaining members of the original Static-X lineup—lead guitarist Koichi Fukuda, drummer Ken Jay, and bassist Tony Campos—announced that they were recreating the band in Static’s honor and will release “Project: Regeneration Vol. 1”, their first studio album in eleven years, in 2020. On January 26, 2024, “Project: Regeneration Vol. 2”, a follow-up CD, was made available.
