Spotify tries to improve the relationship with the artist and plans to pay a performance bonus

Lately Daniel Ek has been in the media more than ever. A lot of kinds of polemics surrounded him, and this time not only because of the hilarious amount of money that pays to the artists. The recent polemic about a podcast made a few artists quit the platform, and these, plus the well known payment politics, resulted in the cancellations of a lot of premiums.

Tidal is becoming the most important direct competitor by publiciting itself as a fair platform for artists. Daniel Ek, worried, wants to try to include the trendic NFT on Spotify.

This is yet to come. So, he is trying to get more ideas and he came up with this incredible project, of course, where the artists win if he wins. Recently he announced that his bad reputation in the music world must stop and he is trying his best to get everybody happy.

This new business plan would include a performance bonus and with it, the artist will get not only the ridiculous amount that they get per song (like 1 usd per 250 plays) but also an even more ridiculous amount for keeping on filling Ek´s pockets while he lays on his chair.

Ek hasn’t confirmed yet the percentages or how this payment may be. But coming from him, we can expect some good business for him, and not so good for the artists. Time will tell.
