Spotify chose Joe Rogan’s podcast over Neil Young’s music: the musician’s catalogue was removed from the platform

We recently published a news report on our site, in which we reported that Neil Young had angrily demanded that streaming giant Spotify remove his music from its platform.

The reason for Young’s decision, according to the singer himself, is that he does not want to be part of a platform that allows the spread of “false vaccination information”.

Young is referring to the hugely popular The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, whose host Joe Rogan has recently come under criticism for his anti-vaccine views on his podcast.

Now Spotify has apparently made a choice and removed Neil Young’s output from its service altogether. A Spotify representative has commented on the decision as follows:

”We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users. With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

”We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon.”
