Finnish power metal veterans Sonata Arctica have announced a new live album, “Live in Latin America”, set for release on December 18, 2026. The record brings together ten performances recorded in ten different cities during the band’s 2025 Clear Cold Beyond World Tour, along with two studio bonus tracks.

The live recordings come from shows in Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil and Peru, documenting the band’s longstanding relationship with its Latin American audience. Rather than presenting one concert from start to finish, the album assembles performances from across the tour to capture different nights and crowds.

The release also arrives during Sonata Arctica‘s 30th anniversary celebrations. Since their 1999 debut “Ecliptica”, the Finnish group have released eleven studio albums and toured extensively around the world. Their most recent studio effort, “Clear Cold Beyond”, arrived in 2024.

Henrik Klingenberg reflects on the band’s Latin American shows

Keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg explained that the group wanted to document the atmosphere of the tour after a long gap since its previous live album.

“Over the years we’ve always enjoyed touring in Latin America. It’s been quite some time since our latest live album so we decided to record the Latin American shows on our Clear Cold Beyond World Tour. The tour went really well and we managed to capture some very special moments, which we will now present to you. This live album is a snapshot of how the band sounded in 2025 during those magical nights.”

The track selection covers several eras of the band’s catalogue. Longtime fan favorites including “San Sebastian”, “Wolf & Raven”, “Tallulah”, “Replica” and “FullMoon” appear alongside more recent songs “First In Line”, “Dark Empath” and “Angel Defiled” from “Clear Cold Beyond”.

Two studio bonus tracks included

In addition to the ten live recordings, “Live in Latin America” features two studio bonus tracks. “Freedom Concept”, released to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary, makes its first appearance on a physical release. “The Elephant”, originally included as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of 2016’s “The Ninth Hour”, will now be released outside Japan for the first time.

The performances reflect the band’s different musical sides, from fast-paced power metal songs to emotional ballads. Opening with “First In Line” from Concepción, Chile, and closing the live portion with “Don’t Say A Word” from Temuco, the album spans more than two decades of the band’s music.
