Smoke from flares forces Bruce Dickinson to sing Iron Maiden classic offstage in Ecuador

Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer of Iron Maiden, performed “The Trooper” from backstage during the band’s most recent performance on October 14 at Estadio Españico Atahualpa in Quito, Ecuador. Dickinson was physically uncomfortable by the smoke from the different flares being lit in the audience, so she made that mid-set maneuver in protest. Dickinson reportedly begged the audience to put an end to the flares, but some of them disregarded his advice. The fan-shot video below shows that the flare’s smoke was flowing straight toward the band’s performance stage. Dickinson, who has survived throat cancer, has previously objected to marijuana users being close to the stage during the band’s live performances.
