The Rolling Stones have announced the release of their first-ever exquisite fragrance, a magnificent endeavour that honours their enduring legacy. “RS No.9” is a distinctive fragrance that evokes the essence of a historic scenario, the starting point, and was created in collaboration with The Rolling Stones, world-renowned fragrance innovator Nirvana Brands, and Bravado. A fragrance reminiscent of London’s Soho in 1962: a vibrant city teeming with activity as a new cultural era dawned; a period of freedom and exploration, when anything could occur; and the year The Rolling Stones performed at the Marquee Club for the first time. Velvety notes blended with bourbon take centre stage as warm leather fights beneath electric musk, while seductive oud and patchouli linger seductively. The Rolling Stones’ renowned RS No.9 Carnaby store on London’s Carnaby Street served as the inspiration for the eye-catching bottle design. It gives a sophisticated apothecary-type bottle a new form, bringing to life the vibrant words of songs in the style of graffiti that adorn the store’s glass floor. The iconic tongue and lips emblem, designed by John Pasche in 1970, is featured on the cap as a tribute to the enduring influence of a band and brand that revolutionized global culture. Catherine Selig, a perfumer known for her ability to craft intricate and evocative fragrances, brought RS No. 9 to life after several years of development.
It’s the perfect fragrance for those who dare to be different, and we hope it will bring some joy to our fans. The Rolling Stones
This was a dream project. I wanted to capture The Rolling Stones’ timelessness — their inimitable style, rebellious spirit, and the feeling of freedom their music still inspires. Every note represents a different facet of The Stones’ legacy, from their soulful melodies to their on-stage unpredictability. This fragrance is a journey through their world, filled with richness, texture, and bold contrasts.

The Rolling Stones are ubiquitous in popular culture, and their influence on personal style is all around us. So this project with the band and Bravado has been a delight. Bottling the essence of The Rolling Stones in a unique and bold fine fragrance has been an incredible journey — and there is a whole lot more in the pipeline to come. Ken Rushton, COO of Nirvana Brands
Creating this fragrance in partnership with Nirvana Brands has been such an exciting project for us as we continue to expand the RS No.9 brand. We look forward to giving fans the chance to further deepen their love for The Rolling Stones. David Boyne, managing director for Bravado
Bright energy and a hint of indulgence are set in motion by the fragrance’s opening explosion of bergamot, zesty lemon, and gentle smattering of bourbon. The warm, resinous glow of Labdanum and the smoky richness of old leather, which embody the sensual and textured essence of rock ‘n’ roll, are at the core of the fragrance. The enigmatic, personal dimension that deep, earthy oak imparts is reminiscent of The Rolling Stones’ capacity to enthrall listeners. The base notes combine Musk’s electric intensity with an incredibly alluring Oud to create a sensual, grounded finish. Patchouli contributes a rich, lasting sweetness that counterbalances the earthy, wild edge of the fragrance with a timeless sophistication that brings to mind Soho in London in the 1960s. Limited to just 999 numbered bottles, RS No. 9 is a declaration of individuality that echoes the classic charm of The Rolling Stones and conjures up a bygone era when everything was up for grabs. RS No.9 boutiques in London and Tokyo sell the 100ml bottles for $99.99 each, and you can pre-order them online here.
