Author Benedetta Baldin - 8.10.2026

The music video for Welsh ragga metallers Skindred‘s track “Big Em Up” was released online on October 7th, as per theprp. This single is featured on the band’s most recent album, “You Got This,” which achieved the number one position on the UK Albums Chart.

It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by life and everything it throws at you, from your gas bill to a family tragedy or people just being negative and your timeline filling up with hate and negativity on social media. ‘Big Em Up’ is a simple message for everyone to check on their friends and to pick ‘em up and to try and encourage some positivity back into the world. It’s a message me and my brothers in Skindred try and share in the music we play, so all we ask is for our fans and listeners to enjoy the single and to also share that message of positivity too. Please check on those around you. Big Em Up!! – Benji Webbe

Dub War was established in Newport, Wales in 1993 and subsequently signed with Earache Records. During the 1990s, the band released two full-length studio albums under this label: “Pain” and” Wrong Side Of Beautiful”, with “Westgate Under Fire” released in 2022. “Pain” achieved the position of number one on the UK Independent Album chart. The band’s metal crossover sound established a foundational template that lead vocalist Benji Webbe and his future band Skindred would later refine and adopt.

Webbe’s musical career began with a group of friends who produced a music video for a song titled “Point of No Return,” recorded in Newport in 1990. Initially, Webbe attempted to form a band with these collaborators under the name Bancall, which was later changed to Dub War. The band disbanded in 1999 due to conflicts with their record label, although these issues have since been resolved.
