Since 2009, the award-winning group Silent Planet have created hypnotic hooks across raw and rich soundscapes steeped in hardcore, post-rock, metal, and ambient textures. They have generated tens of millions of streams and earned tastemaker praise.
After a serious car crash where their van flipped while driving through the Wyoming snow on tour in 2022, the band was understandably shaken but walked away relatively unscathed. This accident brought the band together and became the driving creative force in their next album. With a confidence to take risks, their most recent album SUPERBLOOM shows the growth they have gone through as a band.
With this new era, the band continues to build their audience headlining their own tours as well as supporting the likes of Motionless in White, Dayseeker, Northlane, and more.
Musically, Silent Planet has been classified as metalcore, with a particular emphasis on progressive metalcore. Their sound is characterized by complexity and the integration of post-rock textures. The band is also recognized for their intellectually stimulating lyrics, which explore themes such as warfare, psychology, religion, and political issues. Russell highlights songs like “No Place to Breathe,” supporting Black Lives Matter, and “Alive, as a Housefire,” addressing the ideological divide in the United States, as explicit expressions of their political stance. Members of the band have identified influences including Oh, Sleeper, Architects, Underoath, and This Will Destroy You.
