System Of A Down will be back as the main act at the “Sick New World” event in 2026, as theprp reports. The video below shows the frontman of the multi-platinum Armenian-American band, Serj Tankian, confirming the news during a signing. Tankian is heard saying in that video that the band will be attending the festival the following year. “Sick New World” encountered problems this year after being the main act at the event’s first two iterations. The event was canceled months in advance due to poor ticket sales and a costly bill that included headline performances by Linkin Park and Metallica, each of which was supposedly guaranteed to bring in about $5 million.

System Of A Down‘s recent summer headline performances featured teases for the festival’s 2026 return. The band’s longterm management with Velvet Hammer has also given them a close connection to the festival. The “Sick New World” festival was co-founded by David “Beno” Benveniste, the owner and CEO. The band’s return was anticipated because, as early as 2024, System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan stated that the festival would return this year, indicating that preparations for the group’s comeback to the forefront had long been underway. The festival has so far taken place in April in Las Vegas, Nevada. Official announcements regarding next year’s edition have not yet been made.
