Following weeks of speculation, Sharon Osbourne has now disclosed that she plans to name the band she cut from the list for Black Sabbath and her husband Ozzy Osbourne‘s “Back To The Beginning” live sendoff. The Osbourne matriarch stated in a recent interview with Billboard that she took one band off the list after they disclosed that they “wanted to make a profit” from the performance.
It’s not the time to make a profit. After the show I’ll let everybody know who it was. I think people will be shocked.
Early in June, Sharon made it clear that she had removed a band from the bill. There has been persistent conjecture over who was cut ever since. Tool was one of the first suspects because their name kept going missing from the event’s admats, but they have now verified that they will be there. They also mentioned Iron Maiden, who have previously caused trouble for the Osbourne camp, but Sharon affirmed that it wasn’t them. Since then, there have been rumors that Megadeth might have been the target of the axe, but Kelly, Sharon and Ozzy’s daughter, has verified that this is not the case. Although he has officially said that his absence was due to schedule issues with his band Mammoth‘s summer tour with Creed and others, Wolfgang Van Halen has withdrew from the event.
