Swedish metal trailblazers Sarcator are celebrating the release of their brand new studio album, “The Ones We Follow”, out today via Reigning Phoenix Music!

With their fourth full-length offering, Sarcator push beyond the boundaries of their extreme metal roots and venture into darker, hook-driven territory. Gothic Western atmospheres collide with raw rock ’n’ roll energy, while the band’s signature death and blackened vocals remain firmly intact. Bold, dynamic, and bursting with youthful energy, “The Ones We Follow” marks another exciting step forward in the band’s evolution, showcasing a sound that is unmistakably their own.

There comes a point in every band’s journey when experimentation gives way to conviction. When years of searching no longer lead to another reinvention, but to an identity. For Sweden’s Sarcator, that moment has arrived.

Over the past years, Sarcator have built a reputation as one of Scandinavia’s most exciting young heavy bands, earning nominations for both Sweden’s P3 Guld and Grammis Awards while sharing stages with Hellripper, 1349 and Midnight. Yet “The Ones We Follow” is not the culmination of that journey. With new bassist Linus Edmarker now joining the fold, it is where everything comes together.

Rather than asking where they fit within heavy music, Sarcator follow a far simpler principle:

What serves the song? Every creative decision begins there.

That philosophy has become the band’s creative compass, allowing punk urgency, gothic atmosphere, timeless heavy metal, dark rock swagger and extreme metal intensity to coexist naturally. The result is what the band simply calls death’s rock; not a genre, but an identity.

The same creative restlessness runs through the entire album. Rather than following expectations, trends or genre boundaries, Sarcator trusted instinct at every turn. Every creative decision – from the songwriting to the visual world – serves one purpose: the song itself.

In a recent interview with Dead Rhetoric, vocalist and guitarist Mateo Tervonen reflected on the band’s musical evolution: “When we wrote the second album, we started to listen to all kinds of music, and it made the album sound more progressive, weird, and rock-oriented, and we have kept that since then.” On the creation of the new album, he said “We were more focused. That shines through in the material as well. It’s very worked through.”

“The Ones We Follow” is not about looking back or recreating the past. It marks the moment where Sarcator move forward with complete confidence in who they have become. The songwriting is sharper, the artistic identity clearer, the visual world more immersive and the band’s vision more focused than ever before.

What comes next is about seeing who follows.

“The Ones We Follow” is out now Reigning Phoenix Music.
