Metal giants Metallica celebrated their 40th anniversary in San Francisco, their adopted hometown, with a celebration concert on 16th of December.

San Francisco decided to etch that day forever in the history of the city, as Mayor London Breed officially proclaimed 16th of December as “Metallica Day”.

The day is a celebration of the band’s remarkable career and the generosity they have shown through various donations.

“They’re part of the fabric of the community. They have touched people’s lives for generations. When you talk about San Francisco, you talk about cable cars and then you talk about Metallica. And on behalf of the City and County of San Francisco, I want to officially declare today ‘Metallica Day’”, the mayor proclaimed.

Drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo were on hand to receive the unique declaration.
