Lost Society frontman Samy Elbanna discussed performing Children of Bodom material and preserving the band’s legacy in a new Chaoszine video interview.

Elbanna spoke candidly about the emotional weight of playing music originally performed by the late Alexi Laiho. Although grateful to help the other musicians celebrate the songs, he said the circumstances that led to his involvement were tragic.

“To me, I’m honored that I can be playing a little part in bringing that legacy to the stages. The guys have fantastically and beautifully kept the band alive in that sense, and I’m just happy that I can help bring that to the stages and be able to help perform those songs. That’s the main thing. I’m just happy to be able to help in this whole thing because, as we all know, I can’t say this is something that I was always waiting to do. Obviously not, because in order for this to happen something devastating had to happen, and I’m not the dude who should be there doing it. But we’re in this situation where everyone knows that this is unfortunately the reality, and whatever the guys choose to do, I’m happy if I can help in some way.”

Asked how far ahead the musicians have planned, Elbanna stressed that the decisions belong to the other members:

“Everything that’s public is what I know, you know, in that sense. As I said earlier, whatever the guys feel they want to do, that’s what we’re going to do. And it’s celebrating the music, and the music that was brought to us by someone who, you know, it was his life’s work to bring those songs to life. So now we’re just honoring that.”

His remarks underline that he sees the performances as a tribute to Laiho’s work, not as an attempt to replace him. The announced 2027 shows will continue that celebration.
