A 58-year-old man who suffered terrible injuries on Sunday, September 22nd passed away, leaving his loved ones to question what initially caused his condition. This is some really tragic news coming out of the aftermath of Riot Fest. On Sunday, September 22nd, Stephen Schult was hurt when he was enjoying the event. First-hand reports state that he was last spotted telling his buddies that he was excited to watch Slayer later that evening at approximately 7:45 p.m. during Rob Zombie‘s performance. Following that, he lost contact with his group and did not appear at the agreed-upon meeting place following the performance. Although a missing person complaint was submitted to the Chicago Police Department the next day, he was eventually discovered in critical condition with a brain bleed in the intensive care unit of Stroger Hospital. He had been brought there from the festival, but because he was without his identification, he was placed under the incorrect name. His daughter wrote on Facebook that Shult started to show indications of improvement but then started to deteriorate over the course of the next weekend. Medical staff informed his family that he had fallen into a “natural coma and had little to no brain activity” when they arrived at the hospital this past Wednesday. Because his injuries would prevent him from fully recovering and leading a “decent quality of life,” the family took him from life support. Shult’s loved ones are currently attempting to learn more about his whereabouts. The doctors who treated him have some theories about what might have happened and are currently looking into it, but they claim there are little specifics available regarding the events that led to his injuries. In an attempt to shed light on some aspects that might have contributed to Shult’s premature passing, organizers posted on the official Riot Fest Facebook page. This is what they said:
On behalf of the Chaoszine team, I send our deepest sympathies to Shult’s family and loved ones.
