Rammstein recently uploaded all of the b-sides and remixes from their previous single releases to streaming sites as part of its digitalization, as per theprp. Today, February 6, the German group announced the news on social media, urging followers to join them at rammstein.lnk.to/streaming.
In 1994, the German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein was founded in Berlin. Throughout their history, the band has maintained the same lineup: lead singer Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and keyboardist Christian “Flake” Lorenz. They also have a consistent songwriting process, with Lindemann writing and singing the lyrics over instrumental compositions that the other members of the band have already finished. Some members were involved with the punk rock groups Feeling B and First Arsch before they formed.
Rammstein was able to record demos and submit them to other record labels after winning a local competition. Eventually, they signed with Motor Music. They collaborated with producer Jacob Hellner to make “Herzeleid”, their debut album, in 1995. Despite the album’s dismal initial sales, the band’s live performances helped them gain fame, and the record finally peaked at No. 6 in Germany. The popular singles “Engel,” “Du hast,” and the live album “Live aus Berlin” (1999) were the consequence of their second album, “Sehnsucht”, which was released in 1997 and peaked at No. 1 in Germany. This led to a nearly four-year global tour. “Mutter” was then released in 2001 after Rammstein signed with major label Universal Music. The album produced six singles, all of which charted in European nations.
“Sonne“—the lead single—peaked at number two in Germany. After releasing “Reise, Reise” in 2004, Rammstein had two additional singles, “Mein Teil” and “Amerika,” reach No. 2 in Germany; the former peaked at No. 1 in Spain. “Benzin” was the lead single from their 2005 album “Rosenrot”, which peaked at number six in Germany. “Völkerball”, their second live CD, came out in 2006. Despite a contentious music video, the band’s lead song, “Pussy,” became their first No. 1 hit in Germany when their sixth album, “Liebe ist für alle da,” was published in 2009. The band stopped recording and went on tour for a number of years. They released the “Rammstein in Amerika and Paris” live albums and the “Made in Germany” greatest hits CD.
