Poppy skips Upheaval Festival set due to smoke, but her band takes the stage anyway

Many fans in attendance were perplexed by Poppy‘s performance on July 17, at the annual “Upheaval Festival” in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as per theprp. Her masked colleagues performed an instrumental concert with a little more respiratory protection in the shape of breathing masks, but the singer herself did not enter the stage. Poppy later disclosed on social media that her no-show was caused by the city’s terrible air quality, even though her band played the scheduled instrumental set. The smoke from the recent wildfires in Southeastern Canada has been especially damaging to Grand Rappids.

Due to “hazardous” AQI reaching 350+ around our set time I was unable to join my band on stage. I was unable to breathe in those conditions. You might ‘ve noticed our set was instrumental only. For those who braved the conditions- I applaud you.
