Police arrest former Mr. Bungle member in killing of his girlfriend

Police have arrested ex-Mr. Bungle member Theobald Brooks “Theo” Lengyel, charging him with the murder of his girlfriend, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann. He had previously been looked at as a “person of interest” in her disappearance.

Herrmann was last seen on December 03, 2023 and a police investigation into her disappearance led authorities to discover human remains in Tilden Regional Park in Berkley, CA. The identification of those remains is waiting DNA confirmation from the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office. Local station KRCR have reported that Lengyel was arrested on January 02.

According to KRCR, court records indicate that the couple had been previously married, but had filed for divorce in 2017, after a domestic violence incident led Hermann to file a restraining order against Lengyel.

Lengyel was a member of Mr. Bungle from the time of their early demo “The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny” until “Disco Volante“ (1995), a time during which he played the saxophone, clarinet and keyboards.
