Philadelphia metallic punk band Poison Ruïn have announced their new album “Hymns From The Hills”. At the same time, the band have released the title track “Hymn From The Hills”. The record arrives on April 3, 2026 through Relapse Records.
Building on their earlier work, the band expand their established fantasy driven aesthetic on the new album. While previous releases focused on allegorical tales of peasants and serfs, the new material widens that scope. According to the press material, the stories now unfold across a darker landscape populated by spirits, desolate terrain, and symbolic figures.
Musically, the album was self recorded, as with the band’s past work. However, songwriter Mac Kennedy moved the recording process to a private practice space to allow more time and control. “Having added time to breathe and really get things right felt crucial this time,” Kennedy explains. He adds that earlier sessions, shaped by tight schedules, limited certain ideas that required a more measured approach.
To complete the record, Poison Ruin worked with Jonah Falco for mixing and Arthur Rizk for mastering. Kennedy also contributed to the mixing process, incorporating tape recorded segments to maintain continuity with the band’s earlier sound.
Lyrically, “Hymns From The Hills” continues the band’s use of medieval influenced imagery. However, Kennedy clarifies that the intention is not historical accuracy. Instead, he views mythic language and symbolism as a way to reflect on the present through a broader lens.
