The recorded set occurred on June 11th, 2000, shortly after the release of their second album, “Don’t Give Me Names,” which was certified gold in Germany. Setlist:
Guano Apes is an alternative rock ensemble established in 1994 in Göttingen, Germany. The lineup comprises Sandra Našić on vocals, Henning Rümenapp on guitar, Stefan Ude on bass, and Dennis Poschwatta on drums. Their dynamic musical style, characterized by a fusion of genres including rap, funk, melodic singing, and hardcore screaming, has contributed to their recognition as one of Germany’s most commercially successful rock bands. The band was initially formed in 1994 by Rümenapp, Ude, and Poschwatta, with Sandra Nasic joining as vocalist later that year.
After producing three demo recordings, their prominence increased in 1996 following their victory in the Local Hero contest for unsigned bands. They allocated the prize money to produce their debut hit “Open Your Eyes” and created a music video for the track. Subsequently, they signed with GUN/Supersonic Records. “Open Your Eyes” was released as a single, reaching number five on the German charts, and was succeeded by their debut album, “Proud Like a God”, released on October 6, 1997. The album achieved a peak position of number four and received platinum certification in Germany.
Additional singles, “Rain” and “Lords of the Boards,” contributed to the album’s sustained popularity and commercial success, charting at positions 76 and 10 respectively. “Lords of the Boards” is consistently performed as the concluding piece at Guano Apes concerts.
