Although Old Man’s Child was formally established in 1993, its origins may be traced back to 1989, when Galder, Jardar, and Tjodalv created Requiem, a death/thrash band. They released a demo album in 1990 after first performing renditions of Metallica and Slayer songs. In 1992, Requiem disbanded. They joined with Century Media in 1996 following the release of “Born of the Flickering”, their debut full-length album. The band went on one of their infrequent tours after Century Media released “The Pagan Prosperity” and “Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion”. Due to multiple lineup changes throughout the years, Old Man’s Child has rarely toured.

Galder continued to work with Old Man’s Child even after joining Dimmu Borgir in 2000. The band has become a one-man operation over time, using session players for their recordings. Galder put out three albums between 2000 and 2005: “Vermin” (2005), “In Defiance of Existence” (2003), and “Revelation 666 – The Curse of Damnation” (2000). Old Man’s Child declared in July 2008 that they were going to record Slaves of the World, their seventh album. 2009 saw its release.
