Old Gods Of Asgard‘s new single “Herald of Darkness” has been released alongside a music video. The band is the cameo project of Helsinki-based Poets of the Fall.

The song has rightfully gained significant attention as the music for the highly anticipated game, “Alan Wake 2”. This energetic track has captured the hearts of players and propelled the game to the peak of popularity.

Frontman Marko Saaresto comments:

Writing ‘Herald of Darkness‘ was such an unusual thrill for all of us. We are super happy that it’s been so enthusiastically received.

The single hints at the upcoming release of the album “Rebirth – Greatest Hits” by Old Gods of Asgard. The album will be available on vinyl and CD on December 8, 2023.

“Alan Wake 2” is one of Finland’s all-time biggest entertainment productions, and the recently released game has garnered praise from both critics and players. For instance, Gamespot, one of the world’s largest gaming websites, gave the game a perfect 10/10, and in Finland, the game has been praised by outlets like Helsingin Sanomat. Several reviews have specifically mentioned the game’s genre-defying musical scene featuring an interactive version of the song “Herald of Darkness.” Many players have called this scene the best in a game for a long time, or even ever. “Alan Wake 2” is a strong contender for Game of the Year at the December Game Awards, an event even larger than the Oscars in terms of viewership.

The game received a total of eight nominations at the Game Awards. “Alan Wake 2” is nominated in all major categories and may be recognized for Game of the Year, Best Direction, Storytelling, and Music, among others.
