Now revealed the release date of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s new album

“Alien Metal,” King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard‘s 28th studio album, will soon be available, as per theprp. Tomorrow, August 14, the deep dive into darkish EDM will arrive via (p)doom. The announcement of the release date comes after the song “Kill For The Steel” had its debut on Tuesday, August 11. The Australian psych rockers, who are always trying to push the envelope, used a Eurorack synthesiser as their true inspiration for their most recent album.

Australian rock group King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard was founded in Melbourne, Victoria, in 2010. Stu Mackenzie (vocals, guitar, flute), Ambrose Kenny-Smith (vocals, harmonica, keyboards, saxophone), Cook Craig (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Joey Walker (guitar, vocals), Lucas Harwood (bass, vocals), and Michael Cavanagh (drums, vocals) make up the band’s current lineup. They are renowned for their extensive record, dynamic live performances, and exploration of various genres.

Flightless was the label for the band’s early albums, which combined garage rock and surf music. In the early 2010s, they put out a number of psychedelic rock albums. Later in the decade, they experimented with a wider variety of musical genres, including jazz fusion on “Quarters!” and folk-inspired “Paper Mâché Dream Balloon.” Their 2016 album “Nonagon Infinity”, which took home the ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album, brought them further widespread recognition.

The band, well-known for their extensive career, started a trilogy of microtonal albums with Flying Microtonal Banana in 2017 and fulfilled a pledge to release five studio albums in a single year. The lyrics of later recordings, which included progressive rock, synth-pop, and heavy metal, deal with environmental issues and a connected fictitious world that fans have dubbed the “Gizzverse.” Three of the band’s five studio albums were released in October of 2022. Following the release of their 27th and most latest album, “Phantom Island”, in 2025, they went on tour performing a variety of rock, rave, and orchestral performances.
