You may see the stirring new documentary “Within Temptation: The Invisible Force” below, which was just posted to YouTube. The movie provides a personal and poignant look at the life of the Dutch symphonic metal group Within Temptation during a pivotal period in both their career and society. “Within Temptation: The Invisible Force” chronicles the growing involvement of founders Robert Westerholt and Sharon Den Adel in the conflict in Ukraine. On stage and elsewhere, what begins as aloof camaraderie quickly becomes into direct action. Sharon is determined to help the Ukrainian cause beyond just songs, so she travels to Kyiv to meet fans and give them a message of hope by performing a special concert in the middle of a conflict zone. She invites BLIND8, a young Ukrainian band with a raw and strong sound, to join them on their next European tour while she is there. However, participating in the tour turns out to be difficult because BLIND8 members might have to serve required military service and it’s unclear if they will be allowed to leave the nation. The documentary shows how the conflict changes the moral and creative compass of artists worldwide in addition to having an impact on those who reside in Ukraine. To what extent can a band fulfill their ideals? What occurs when activism is incorporated into music? “Within Temptation: The Invisible Force” tells a gripping tale of bravery, music, and the unseen but potent force that binds people together during times of conflict.
