Norther to return in 2027 with classic lineup – new music also in the works

Finnish melodic death metal veterans Norther are set to make their long-awaited return in 2027. After more than 15 years away, the band will return to the stage with their classic lineup and are currently also working on new music.

The first confirmed shows will see Norther perform at Wacken Open Air in Germany and Brutal Assault in the Czech Republic in the summer of 2027. Further festival appearances and touring plans will be announced in the coming months.

Originally formed in 1996 under the name Requiem, the band adopted the Norther name in 1999. During the early 2000s, the group became one of the internationally recognized names of the Finnish melodic death metal scene, combining aggressive riffs, memorable melodies and energetic live performances.

The band‘s breakthrough came with the 2003 album “Mirror Of Madness”. It was followed by releases including “Death Unlimited”, “Till Death Unites Us” and “N”.

For the band’s 2027 return, Norther will reunite with a lineup familiar from some of its most successful years: Petri Lindroos (vocals, guitar), Kristian Ranta (guitar), Jukka Koskinen (bass), Tuomas Planman (keyboards) and Heikki Saari (drums).

Lindroos commented on the reunion:

“15 years of rest on ice did us good, and now it’s time to return to the stages. There were many places we didn’t get to play back then, and now is their time. We’re really excited to see where this road takes us.”

The comeback will not be limited to live shows, as Norther have also confirmed that they are currently working on brand-new music. Further details regarding new releases, live performances and international touring plans will be announced at a later date.
