“No matter if I’m doing political work, I still consider myself an artist” – CHTHONIC’s Freddy Lim shares his story as a metal vocalist

When songwriter and vocalist Freddy Lim began his political career in the last decade, he was already a well-known figure in the Taiwanese music scene as the vocalist for the metal band CHTHONIC. His public work in the Taiwanese parliament and, more recently, as Taiwan’s representative and ambassador to Finland, has amplified the musician’s work as an international figure serving his country, his people, and his ideology. But first of all, Lim remains an artist and, for the past 30 years, has toured the world, recorded albums, and made a difference sharing his personal story of how he transformed pain into a way to express himself, whether behind a desk or screaming his lungs out into a microphone.

Chaoszine had a chat with Freddy before a show in Helsinki, Finland and discussed in detail how he started listening to heavy music, his influences and the kind of vocalist he became. You can check out the video interview in full below:
