Industrial metal band Nine Inch Nails made their road comeback in June of last year for their first live performance since 2022, as per theprp. The “Peel It Back Tour,” which featured a lavish production and two stages, has persisted ever since, although it might end up being the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ final chapter. At the band’s performance this past Friday, February 27 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK, here is what Trent Reznor said to the crowd.
I think one of the first times we played here, I think maybe it was Cain’s Ballroom, like 80 years ago…. I think we were opening for Peter Murphy… and we were playing ‘Head Like A Hole,’ and I could see someone in the back screaming the fuckin’ lyrics back at me, and I thought, ‘This is all I ever wanted in life, is to connect with somebody like that dude in the back [of the venue]. Anyway, that’s what I think of when I roll into Tulsa.
I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m fuckin’ grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much.
Given Nine Inch Nails‘ illustrious career, it stands to reason that their final live concert would be accompanied by some hoopla and promotion. However, the possibility of Nine Inch Nails reducing their live commitments from customary touring cycles in the years to come doesn’t seem unthinkable given that Reznor is now approaching his 60s and that his career as a film and television composer and composer alongside his bandmate Atticus Ross is more of a primary role.
