For the second stop of their recently announced “Peel It Back World Tour,” Nine Inch Nails had even more surprises planned for the setlist. Last night, June 17th, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inducted industrial metal legends performed at Co-op Live in Manchester, UK. The group began the set with the first live performance of “A Minute To Breathe,” once again alternating between a lavish two-stage production, where one stage featured a variety of lighting and projection on transparent fabric, and the other stage featured a more intimate in-the-round approach. That song was originally published in 2016 as a part of the joint album “Before The Flood,” which was helmed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the masterminds of Nine Inch Nails. A recently revamped version of the 1989 “Pretty Hate Machine” cut, “That’s What I Get,” which had not been performed since 1991, was one of the setlist’s other highlights. Despite a comparable fresh remix, the title track from Nine Inch Nails‘ expansive, two-platinum third studio album, “The Fragile,” also returned to the program. The song was performed live for the first time since 2009 during last night’s run through. Apart from that, “Branches/Bones” from 2016’s “Not The Actual Events” was played for the first time since 2018. It made a comeback in a remixed form, made possible by tour opener Boys Noize.
