Tommy Lee, the drummer for Mötley Crüe, is once again accused of sexual assault in a recently refiled complaint brought by Heather Taylor, as per theprp. Taylor first filed as a Jane Doe in 2023, claiming that late pilot David Martz had “lured” her onto a sightseeing helicopter flight in 2003. Taylor claimed that Lee and Martz used beer, marijuana, and cocaine during the aforementioned journey, and that Martz failed to notify her that Lee would also be traveling with them. Additionally, she said that throughout the trip, Lee started “forcibly groping, kissing and penetrating her with his fingers, and attempting to force her to perform oral copulation” on him.
The lawsuit was dropped in 2024 because to a number of problems with its filing, including statute of limitations issues and its eligibility to be brought under the Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act. However, Taylor has subsequently resurrected her complaint against Lee with the recent passage of AB 250 in California, the state where the claimed event occurred. She accuses Lee of intentional infliction of mental anguish, gender aggression, sexual battery, and carelessness. According to information obtained by Rolling Stone from Taylor and her attorney regarding this refiling, she is requesting a jury trial in addition to unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
AB 250 permits adult survivors of sexual assault to file civil claims that were previously prohibited due to statute of limitations difficulties within a limited window of revival from January 1st, 2026 to December 31st, 2027.
Just yesterday, the band announced that they will go on hiatus after their tour in late 2026.
