Mumford & Sons release “Malibu”, opener of the upcoming album ‘Rushmere’

Mumford & Sons have released the second advance track from their upcoming fifth studio album “Rushmere.” “Malibu” is now available to stream everywhere. Listen HERE or watch the accompanying music video:

“Rushmere “will be released on March 28, 2025 via Island EMI Group / Glassnote.

The play with harmonies that has so characterized Mumford & Sons‘ signature sound comes into its own in “Malibu”. With a careful, layered build-up and the swelling of instruments to a redemptive crescendo, “Malibu” is a contemporary example of Mumford & Sons‘ work as they gradually reveal the shape and soul of “Rushmere.”

Marcus Mumford explains of the song:

‘Malibu’ was the first song we wrote when we got back together in Los Angeles in January 2023. It just felt like us. The way it was then captured during the recording with Dave Cobb then encouraged us to open RUSHMERE with it. We love the song.

The track follows the recent announcement of an intimate, global club tour starting March 5 in Amsterdam and ending March 26 at the Brooklyn Paramount. An exclusive Germany concert is also among the dates: On March 9, the band will make a guest appearance at Metropol, Berlin. All shows on the tour were completely sold out within an hour of going on sale. Further tour plans for later in the year will be unveiled soon.
