The year 2024 has officially begun, and ahead lies a year filled with promising metal albums from both established names and rising stars. Many bands have already announced plans to release new albums, while others are still finalizing their own releases. Below are some highlights of the most anticipated domestic albums.
Finnish metal favorite Mokoma is gearing up to release their highly anticipated new album, “Myrsky,” on March 8th through their label, Sakara Records.
Vocalist Tommy Tuovinen, guitarist Daniel Freyberg, bassist Jukka Koskinen, and drummer Heikki Saari, all involved in various projects, have formed a new band called Crownshift. We eagerly await the debut album from the band in 2024.

Jari Mäenpää’s Wintersun is set to make a significant announcement about their future. The band’s latest album, “The Forest Seasons,” was released in 2017, so hopefully, after seven years of anticipation, we will hear new music from them this year. Hopefully the TIME has come.

Ranked third in Kaaoszine’s 2023 reader poll for the newcomer category, The Abbey announced at the end of 2023 that they have begun writing the follow-up to their debut album, “Word Of Sin.” Could we possibly get more new music from the band in the form of an album by the end of this year?
Industrial metal force Fear Of Domination has silently prepared music for their upcoming album, with the schedule still in the shadows. We hope the album will be released by the end of the year.
Shereign spent 2023 writing music for their next album, and in late November, they treated us to the heavier side of their music with the song “Visual Animals.” Since the band has been working on the album for a while, we might expect it to see the light of day in 2024, even though there hasn’t been much information disclosed about it yet.
Comprising former members of Children Of Bodom, Lapko, and Disco Ensemble, Moon Shot is set to release their second album this year. We’ve already had a taste of the album with the song “Shadow Boxer,” so the album might be released in the first half of the year, just in time for summer festival gigs.
