Misery Index to release a 25th anniversary edition of “Overthrown”

Author Benedetta Baldin - 23.10.2026

The 2001 extended play “Overthrow” by Misery Index is set to receive a commemorative 25th anniversary vinyl reissue on December 15th, published by Time To Kill Records. This deathgrind production has been expertly mastered by Virtalähde Mastering for the reissue and now includes three additional tracks that were previously featured on the band’s 2002 split with Commit Suicide.

A remastered version of the track “Your Pain Is Nothing” has recently been made available for streaming. Interested parties can visit timetokillrecords.com or Bandcamp to place pre-orders. Following this nostalgic release, Misery Index is also engaged in the production of their eighth studio album, having been active in the recording studio as recently as last month.

‘Your Pain Is Nothing‘ is a deep cut classic we decided to push forward for this timely 25th anniversary rerelease of our debut EP ‘Overthrow’. It’s a bit longer track that that weaves through blasting verses and an even more epic chorus, standing out as a favourite track among many old school fans. We are stoked to present it now on this restored and specially mastered for vinyl version, out soon on Time to Kill Records! – James Netherton

The best way to characterise Misery Index‘s music is as death metal with heavy grindcore and hardcore punk influences. Its lyrics frequently criticise everyday life, the evils of contemporary society, and the dominant power systems in contemporary culture. Their band’s name is drawn from the same-named economic indicator, which also served as the idea for Assück‘s most recent album and Misery Index. From 2002 to 2013, the band performed in over 1000 performances across 44 countries as part of their extended touring schedule.
