The Baltimore deathgrinders Misery Index, who re-signed with Season Of Mist earlier this year, have released a lyric video for their first new single in about four years, “Feral Future,” right before their impending summer tour of Europe and the UK, as per theprp.
‘Feral Future‘ is about changing the way we think about our relationship with nature. Nature isn’t something we rule over or exist outside of. It’s something we are immersed in everywhere all the time. This song champions the rewilding of damaged and corrupted human spaces and reclaims a more feral connection that respects the sublime wonder of nature. – Jason Netherton

The best way to characterise Misery Index‘s music is as death metal with heavy grindcore and hardcore punk influences. Its lyrics frequently criticise everyday life, the evils of contemporary society, and the dominant power systems in contemporary culture. Their band’s name is drawn from the same-named economic indicator, which also served as the idea for Assück‘s most recent album and Misery Index. From 2002 to 2013, the band performed in over 1000 performances across 44 countries as part of their extended touring schedule.
