Guitarist Mick Mars and Mötley Crüe have had a tough year. Mars filed a lawsuit against his former band in April 2023, which has so far been turning out in Mars‘ favor. The musician revealed that he’s since sold his publishing rights to Mötley Crüe‘s music, but is nonetheless heartbroken over the whole situation. After all, Mars and the Crüe spent about four decades together.
In a recent interview with “Audacy Check In”, Mars said he would still write music with his former bandmates.
In Mars‘ words:
Well, it took me 40 years ’cause Mötley was priority… and now that I’m retired, I’m just me. I mean, if Mötley wanted me to write songs with them again, of course I would… But right now, I’m just me, so I’m writing, and it’s not Mötley, and it’s how I feel — my ideas and my kind of thing and kind of trying to reinvent myself or bring myself up to date.
Mötley Crüe is now working on new music with John 5, whereas Mars is working on new solo material. Only time will tell if that musical reunion could actually happen.
