$100,000 has been donated by Metallica’s All Within My Hands charity to provide immediate disaster relief in Hurricane Helene-affected regions. Since making landfall on Thursday, September 26th, Hurricane Helene has devastated a number of communities over a 500-mile radius, leaving a path of devastation in its wake across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. With more than 215 fatalities and hundreds more still missing, it is currently the third-deadliest hurricane to strike the United States this century. The tragedy is undeniable. Rescue attempts have been hampered by the inaccessibility of hundreds of roads due to historic water levels and widespread flooding throughout the Appalachians. World Central Kitchen and Team Rubicon will receive $50,000 apiece from All Within My Hands. In response, World Central Kitchen uses airboats and helicopters to deliver clean water and essential food to remote villages. Tens of thousands of hot meals and sandwiches have already been given to families in need thanks to WCK’s partnerships with 35 food trucks in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee, as well as 16 businesses in North Carolina and Tennessee. Over 35 communities in the impacted area are served by five recon teams made up of more than 140 Team Rubicon volunteers, also referred to as Greyshirts. Over 400 dump trucks’ worth of debris have already been removed by these route clearance crews, and they are still working hard throughout Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee.A percentage of all ticket purchases from Metallica’s “M72” global tour is donated back into the communities in each place the band visits through All Within My Hands. The Foundation has been rigorously searching for groups that share the AWMH vision and actively employ funds to improve the lives of those in need in collaboration with local promoters.
