Messa drop video for “Reveal” ahead of European tour with Paradise Lost

Italian doom metal outfit Messa have released a new music video for “Reveal,” a track from their latest full-length album “The Spin”. The band is set to join Paradise Lost as direct support on a European tour beginning next month.

“The Spin” came out in April under Metal Blade Records, and continues the band’s trajectory from their earlier work into more expansive territory. The record blends their self-styled “scarlet doom” sound with touches of goth, jazz, and classic heavy metal. Reviews have praised it as both ambitious and imminently listenable.

According to the band, “Reveal” sprang from an almost dreamlike moment: guitarist Alberto reportedly awoke at 4 a.m. with a riff in his mind and recorded it by phone so he wouldn’t lose it. The track combines slide-guitar blues elements with blastbeat metal passages. The video was shot in a tire warehouse using analog equipment and a deliberately lo-fi aesthetic, with strobe and neon lighting enhancing the feel of spontaneity.

“The Spin” was largely recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by Maurizio “Icio” Baggio, and features synth contributions from Andrea Mantione on “Fire On The Roof.” The artwork is by Nico Vascellari, made using Nero Portoro marble and tires.

In October and November 2025, Messa will support Paradise Lost on their Ascension of Europe Tour. The run begins October 9 in Manchester and concludes November 6 in Antwerp. On U.K. dates, High Parasite will open; on select mainland shows, Lacrimas Profundere will also join.

As a band, Messa draw on an unusually wide palette — from prog, blues, punk, and ambient to black metal and goth influences. For “The Spin”, they leaned further into ’80s goth rock while trying not to lose touch with their identity. The band says they resist repeating themselves, and sought to express familiar themes in fresh ways. Lyrically, “The Spin” addresses ego dissolution, relationships, failure, and internal struggle with stark honesty.
