Irish blackened-death outfit Malthusian have inked a deal with Relapse Records, unveiling their sophomore full-length “The Summoning Bell” for August 8th, 2025, and dropping a brand-new video for the title track. You can stream the track below and on streaming platforms.
Their haunting new music video, directed by Ray K Media, presents the band in stark black-and-white visuals that perfectly complement the song’s oppressive atmosphere. Vocalist/guitarist MB cryptically remarks, “We always find something… to give us the impression we exist,” a refrain that echoes through the track.
The album’s sound promises a darker, more brutal evolution from their earlier work, continuing the grim trajectory set by their releases “Across Deaths” and “Time’s Withering Shadow”. With ominous cymbal swells and savage blast-beats underpinning murky, churning riffs, the second track “Red, Waiting” sets the tone for an obliterating eight-song journey.
Relapse is releasing the album across 2-LP, CD, and digital formats, with exclusive vinyl variants like silver, swamp-green splatter, and marble—all available via their webstore. The band lineup features MB on guitar and vocals, TMK on guitar, FB handling bass, and JK on drums.
With its themes of existential voids, superstition’s decay, and the collapse of human constructs, “The Summoning Bell” promises to be a bleak yet captivating descent into darkness.
