Lex Legion are already moving ahead with their second album. Guitarists Andy La Rocque and Pete Blakk discussed their progress in a new Pod Scum interview. La Roque stated:
We already have, like, 10, 11 songs, I mean, the basics of it. And Mikkey’s going into the studio in about two weeks, putting down the first kind of drum tracks for it.
And Blakk added:
Yeah, [Mikkey] was just here [in Andy’s recording studio], because that’s the way we work. I have a couple of songs, and Andy had a couple of songs. We laid down the foundation for them. We bring Mikkey in, and he comes down, and we arrange, change a little bit or take a piece out here and there and he has his say. And then he records the drums, and that’s the way we work. And then Hal comes in and Nils. So that’s the pattern.
The follow-up is expected to be more substantial than the group’s self-titled debut, potentially running for around 40 to 45 minutes. La Rocque suggested August or September 2027 as a possible release window, but stressed that the timing depends on how smoothly recording and the rest of the process unfold. No firm release date has been announced.
The band features four musicians associated with King Diamond‘s classic late-1980s lineup: guitarists La Rocque and Blakk, bassist Hal Patino and drummer Mikkey Dee. Vocal duties are handled by Nils K. Rue of Pagan’s Mind. The four former King Diamond bandmates played on the albums “Them” and “Conspiracy.”
Lex Legion are also preparing for their first live appearance, scheduled for December 11 at Filmstudion in Gothenburg, Sweden. A more extensive touring plan may become feasible once the band has a larger catalogue of its own material to perform.
Chaoszine previously spoke to Lex Legion about creating their own identity rather than simply recreating their former band’s sound. Watch that interview here.
