Norwegian progressive metal outfit Leprous recently turned up the creativity in a fresh episode of Musora’s “Covers On The Spot.” In this series, artists are challenged to instantly produce a cover of a randomly selected song, often pushing them beyond their comfort zones.

For this particular installment, Musora surprised Leprous with an iconic 1985 pop anthem “Take On Me” by fellow Norwegians A-ha. The band embraced the challenge, working through the creative process in real time in the studio and ultimately delivering their own layered rendition of the hit.

The track choice had a bit of history behind it: Leprous vocalist and keyboardist Einar Solberg had previously explored A-ha’s catalog in a live setting, covering “Manhattan Skyline” alongside Emperor’s Ihsahn. That prior connection likely helped the band bring some familiarity to the spontaneous cover session.
