Lacuna Coil release new double single “Fragile XX / I Wish You Were Dead (SWARM Remix)”

Author Benedetta Baldin - 21.10.2026

To mark the twentieth anniversary of “Karmacode”, Lacuna Coil, icons of Italian metal, are releasing today a new version of “Fragile” entitled “Fragile XX” and a remix of “I Wish You Were Dead” by SWARM. Past and present intersect in the celebration of this milestone: “Fragile” originally appeared on “Karmacode”, whilst “I Wish You Were Dead” is taken from Sleepless Empire, the band’s latest studio album released last year.

Andrea Ferro explains: “‘Fragile’ has always been very well received live and was also one of the very first songs we performed on stage, even before Karmacode was released 20 years ago. Its message – which is to embrace life’s difficulties without ever giving up, even though that fragile balance is often put to the test – is still very relevant to us. Although revisiting such a much-loved track might seem a bit risky at first (especially for Maki, our main songwriter), it was actually a way of paying tribute to ‘Fragile’ and also to Karmacode, and we’re absolutely delighted with the result. ‘Fragile XX’ sounds like Lacuna Coil in 2026, and we can’t wait to play it live for the next 20 years!”

SWARM adds: “I’m a long-time fan of Lacuna Coil, and when I was asked to remix one of their tracks, I felt deeply honoured. I remember listening to ‘Karmacode’ back in the 2000s and thinking the melodies were incredibly interesting and exotic. The whole album helped shape what would eventually become my musical tastes, and I’ve remained a loyal fan of the band ever since. I’m always very cautious about agreeing to remix tracks, especially if they’re by artists I love. I never remix anything just for the sake of it. I always want it to be worthwhile; I’m keen to respect the original but also to shake it up aggressively and bring out something mad. I’m very proud to have had the chance to do this with ‘I Wish You Were Dead’.”

Lacuna Coil will set off again in 2027 for a series of dates supporting The Halo Effect, but will first be heading to Korea for the Hero Rock Festival this December.
