The police shooting involving novelist Jillian Lauren Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has been decided by Los Angeles court, as reported by Loudwire. The author, who writes under the pen name Jillian Lauren, will not be going to jail for the April 2025 incident, according to The Los Angeles Times. When the chase in Shriner’s neighborhood went on foot, police were chasing a hit-and-run driver. When police arrived in pursuit and sought to enter Shriner’s home after one of the suspects had attempted to enter, the author allegedly shot the suspect and pointed her gun at the policemen, refusing to drop her weapon when asked to do so. Police subsequently shot the author in the shoulder, arrested him, and charged him with “attempted murder.” Judge Susan J. DeWitt of the Los Angeles Superior Court presided over the case and gave the author a mental health diversion. Should the author abide by the ruling’s specifics, this would prevent her from going to jail. The ruling stipulates that Shriner must abstain from all firearms, abstain from narcotics and alcohol, and attend treatment sessions. The accusations against her will be dropped when she complies with the ruling’s requirements for two years.
